Press Platform Update: Wednesday 3rd June 2026
The Press’ journal platform will be updated in the coming days – which may mean a brief service outage on Wednesday 6th June. Our colleagues at CoSector, University of London who provide technical and hosting support for the Press will be enacting a long-planned update for the underlying software on which we are based – PKP’s Open Journal System (OJS). This is initially for the journal site only – books will be unaffected at this time. During the update there may be brief times when the website is unavailable for readers, authors and reviewers alike. We apologise in advance for this necessary interruption to apply some much-needed software revisions. While we hope the interruption to service will be brief, there is a slim possibility that the outage may continue into the following day – however we hope to avoid this.
What this Means for You?
Readers: There may be short periods when you will be unable to access our journals and read/download their articles.
Authors & Reviewers: You will be unable to submit papers, updates to manuscripts or review reports for any of our journals during this time. It is strongly recommended that if you do need to submit anything to us, that you use email to contact your journal editor directly or wait until Friday 8th June when normal service will be fully restored.
After the Update
For readers there are unlikely to be any significant changes, but authors and reviewers may notice a revised submission dashboard for the new software version. Contact your editor for guidance if you need any advice.
Following the update we will be checking for any issues – if you encounter a problem with the journal site on or after Friday 8th June, please contact us via email.
Thank you for your support, and your patience during this upgrade process.
